Norine Lane

Norine Lane, daughter of the late Henry Wilson and Lillie Mildred Wilson, was born on August 30, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland. She entered eternal rest on February 13, 2026. Norine was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and briefly attended college before choosing to prioritize raising her family. Though her studies unfolded over time as she ensured her children were well cared for and firmly established, Norine took coursework intermittently and returned to college at age 50 to complete her degree. Grounded in the belief that it was never too late to start, she moved forward with courage and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business. She later obtained her real estate license and worked in real estate before transitioning into a career in auditing. Norine began her career as an auditor with the Prince George's County Office of Audits & Investigations in March 2022 and was a highly valued member of the team. She brought vibrant energy to the workplace while consistently demonstrating professionalism and integrity. Her leadership shared that it was a privilege to work alongside her; her contributions strengthened the department in meaningful ways, and though her time there was far too short, her impact continues to resonate. Norine received Christ at an early age and demonstrated her love for Him through faithful service and fellowship. From 2022 to 2026, she served at The Worship Church as a dedicated Minister of Hospitality and ministry leader. Affectionately called "Mom" by many, young and old alike, she warmly embraced all who sought wise counsel, prayer, and reassurance. She served the Lord with grace and excellence, and her presence lit every space she entered; no one encountered "Sunshine Lane" and remained the same. Extending motherly love and compassion, she was always ready to offer encouragement, support, or a listening ear. Her life reflected the love of Christ in both word and deed. A lover of butterflies, Norine was graceful, radiant, and warm -- always smiling and full of joy. She had a way of brightening even the simplest moments and truly loved to laugh. She cherished meaningful one-on-one conversations, often preferring them to large gatherings. Family was the heartbeat of her life. She delighted in bringing her loved ones together and staying actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Being "Nana" was her deepest happiness. Creativity was another expression of her heart. Norine was an inspiring author and songwriter who wrote several books, including children's stories that remain part of her creative legacy, though not yet published. With deep compassion for homeless children and women navigating life's most difficult circumstances, her writing reflected both empathy and hope. She also co-wrote several songs with her eldest daughter, Naomi--- two of which were published--and dreamed of writing for other artists and in support of causes close to her heart. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Malcolm; her children, Lionel (Sharon), Naomi, Mark (Erica), and Nicole; seven grandchildren, Destin, Jaylan, Kaylan, Janiyah, Patterson, Jeremiah, and Angelina; three siblings, Doris, Charles (Valerie), and Frank (Andrea); one brother-in-law, Howard (Rosa); three sisters-in-law, Sherdina, Denise, and Audrey; a host of nieces and nephews; and many honorary sons and daughters who affectionately knew her as "Mom."
