Michael Hugh Reid

Michael Hugh Reid was born to Marcia Beckles and Hugh Reid on December 10, 1970 in Brooklyn, NY. He was educated in the New York Public school system and attended Bushwick High School. Mike was the oldest of all his siblings but a big brother to many more. He was a loyal friend and 310 Eldert was home to all he called family. Mike met Shamona in 1988 and together they raised Uniqua, Shannon, Michaela, Stephanie, and Mikey . In 2003, Mike and Shamona relocated to Owings Mills, MD with their children. As a first generation Jamacian-American, he learned the value of hard work which led him to start a small music shop in 1999 and an entertainment promotions company in 2007. Mike's love for cars was cultivated while working in the autobody industry for 11 years at Barge Autobody and AllType Towing. Mike was employed at Mercy Medical Center for 15 years as a Lieutenant Officer. He enjoyed working in the Security department and made his coworkers his second family. Mike loved football--as a teen playing with his friends in Bushwick, as a young adult on a semi-pro Red Hook team, and as a proud parent coaching and cheering on his son. Mike was a die-hard New York Football Giants fan and football season was year-round in the Reid household. Mike loved to grill and was a self-proclaimed Grill Master. His main dishes were jerk chicken, steak, and ribs. Barbecuing was a time to spend with his family, be the life of the party, and tell some of his hilarious stories. Mike had a vibrant personality, and everyone loved being around him. On January 21, 2020, Mike departed this earth and he leaves to mourn: his father Hugh Reid; his mother Marcia Beckles-Harris and step-father Joseph Harris; his life partner Shamona; daughters Uniqua, Shannon, Michaela and Stephanie; son Michael; grandchildren Julian, Bryson, and Amani; siblings Katina and Andrasan Scott, Robert and Lucinda Reid, Kim Hill, Samantha and Sheldon Sharpe, Jacquelynne and Michael Smallwood; aunts Diana "Babes" Siddons and Ilona "Deenie" Wilder-Link; and a host of relatives, devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and dogs Charlie, Max, and Luna.
