Milford J. Oliver

MILFORD JEROME OLIVER, affectionately known as “Big-O” was born to Evelyn Latham and Leonard Oliver on June 21, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 10:45 a.m. after a long illness. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System and was a proud graduate of Frederick Douglass Senior High School in 1957. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army as a airborne soldier 82nd Airborne Division of the Army at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, North Carolina. He received lots of honorable awards of brave services in the Vietnam War along with many army certificates of proudness and excellence services in the military army. To know Milford, you knew how very proud he was of his career with the United States Army from which he retired in 1978 after 22 years of service. He was a proud soldier and a joy to have in your life. He was bigger than life with his happy smile. He was a very kindhearted person, a candle like spirit (very supportive). He was also very active in the home, job, church and community with his gentle smile and caring loving heart. My sweetheart passed away on our anniversary date with wife, Angela and daughter, Evette at his side with her anniversary prayer blanket with words from the Bible. Milford loved and enjoyed telling stories of his military life to people every day. He will be truly and deeply missed. I want to thank God for sending Milford into my life. I also want to thank Milford for his love, caring and sharing forty-four years of his life with me. There was a lot of good times, but some hard times to. My heart will not let me say good-bye to you, so I will say so long. Milford and Angela were joined in holy matrimony on August 8, 1979, and from this union was one child, a daughter Evette. He had many interests and hobbies like fishing, fixing cars, reading the Bible and football. He earned many awards like the Vietnam Service, National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge of Air Borne Division, Good Conduct Medal (5 awards), Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Oliver; his father, Leonard Oliver; and sister, Mildred Oliver. As we continue to celebrate his life, he leaves to cherish his beloved memories: his loving and caring wife, Angela Oliver; daughter, Evette Oliver; two brothers, Vernon Oliver (Lorraine) and Victor Oliver (Sheila; lifetime best friends, Willie Joseph and Butch Hebron; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
