Marie Dorsey

Marie Angelita Dorsey, daughter of the late Marie Scott Stanley and the late Raymond Milton Stanley, departed this life on the night of March 21, 2022, at 9:21pm. Marie graduated from Eastern Senior High School and received the Miss Future Secretary award. While at Eastern Senior High, she played Varsity Tennis. Marie could hold her own with any male in conversations about sports, especially baseball and football. She later attended Community College of Baltimore and completed her certification at Strayer’s Business College. Marie was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 52 years, Kent Miller Dorsey. She was also a loving and caring daughter to her mother, who she always admired for her strength and ties to family. Marie’s family was her life and was proud to let you know it. She always did her best for all of us no matter what adversities she faced. She enjoyed life. Preparing and planning events/gatherings for family and friends was a specialty for her. She loved to prepare, cook, and eat different food types in-spite of her digestive issues, that plagued her for over 12 years, but she would always say, “It could be worse”. Most of all Marie loved to dance and sing, while praising her God. Marie started her career with the Baltimore City Public School System in 1969. During this time, she also held the position of Administrative Coordinator at the Baltimore City School for the Arts, moving on to the Mayor and City Council in 1995 where she obtained a position with the Department of Zoning and Appeals. Marie was always looking for challenges, as she again, moved on to the Mayor’s office as a Real Estate Agent for the City Government, retiring in January of 2006 and never looking back. Before her Real Estate Agent position with the Mayor’s office, Marie and her husband had the opportunity to work in the private sector as Real Estate Agents for Grempler, Century 21, and Coldwell Banker Realities. As a team they sold millions of dollars in Real Estate. Marie enjoyed traveling, especially outside of the United States. Her saying was always, “I need Surf, Sun and Sea”, which she and her husband enjoyed, as they visited the different exotic countries around the world. She also enjoyed her time as a member of “The Ladies of Merit”. Having a green thumb, Marie truly loved growing plants and flowers to accent her haven. She also loved reading a good book for hours, whenever she had the opportunity. Marie Angelita Dorsey leaves behind, her husband, Kent Miller Dorsey; one son, Kent Marcus Dorsey; and one daughter, Mieka Cherron-Marie Cowley; three brothers, Gregory Stanley, Craig Stanley, and Rodney Stanley; one sisterin-law, Janice Stanley; one grandson, Darius Dorsey; one granddaughter, Azariyah Dorsey and a host of nieces, nephews, and great friends.
