With heavy hearts, we remember JAMES ARTHUR HAMMOND, a man whose radiant spirit left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. Born to the late Arthur Hammond and Helen Walker on October 6, 1954, James brought into the world an insatiable curiosity and a zest for life that would define him. A graduate of Baltimore City College High, James continued his educational journey at Morgan State before proudly serving in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1978, embodying values of dedication and honor. After his military tenure, James discovered a sense of purpose at the United States Post Office. There, he wholeheartedly dedicated himself to his work until his final day, making a profound impact on the community he served. In 1978, James entered a meaningful partnership with Sharon Price, a union that brought forth the joy of welcoming his beloved daughter, Taisha. Alongside Taisha, he warmly embraced Patrice, his cherished bonus daughter, further expanding his heart and family. In 1985, James achieved a significant milestone, earning his degree in Mass Communications from the Community College of Baltimore, a testament to his relentless pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. James was a true renaissance man, his talents extending far beyond the musical realm. His love for photography captured moments of beauty and truth, reflecting his keen eye for detail and his deep appreciation for the world around him. Music was James’ truest passion, and the resonance of his bass guitar brought joy to all who had the privilege of listening. His musical talent was a testament to his creativity and unwavering. dedication to artistic expression. James was the cornerstone of his family, a source of laughter, and a wellspring of shared love. He cherished every moment spent together, leaving a legacy of cherished memories. As we bid farewell to James, we hold dear the memories of a man who lived with purpose, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and joy. May he rest in eternal peace. James leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Taisha Hammond-Easley (Tyrone); grandson, Braxton Easley; sister, Lillie Boyd; two brothers, Paul Brown Jr. and Carl Hammond; three nieces, Teresa Spence, Sabrina Brown and Robin Boyd; four nephews, Adrian Spence, Paul Brown III, Jamarl Hammond and Keyon Hammond (Alexandria); numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, family and friends. James has been reunited with his cherished grandmother Lillie Thomas and grandson Blake Hammond.
