Dija Rucker Arrington Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dĳa Annette (Rucker) Arrington, age 43 was called home to the Lord on Tuesday June 23, 2020. Dĳa was born on July 12, 1976 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Donald “Wayne” Rucker and Gertha “Lee” Young-Oliver. Left with love and beautiful memories are her beloved husband Aaron Arrington whom she shared a blessed union of 14 years, her daughters Taĳa Destiney Barnes, Tavia Miracle Barnes and Torre Angel Barnes. Her mother Gertha “Lee” Young-Oliver (Kenneth), mother in law, Mary Lou Arrington, her siblings Kiara Oliver, Kenneth Jerry Oliver Jr., Angie Flowers, Shomari Whiteside, Joyce Wardlaw, Andre Tucson and brother in law Dominick Arrington. One surviving grandparent Esther O’Brian and godmother Annette Young (Ronnie). Her godchildren Octavia Smith, Makayla Johnson and Bre’el Barnes. Dĳa was proceeded in death by her father, grandparents, and one sibling. Dĳa also leaves to cherish a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and family. Dĳa was educated in DC Public Schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, DC in June 1994. Dĳa went on to pursue her education at Coppin State College, where she studied Criminal Justice. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she was in the youth choir where she led the church in songs. Dĳa loved family and friends and was a devoted mother to her daughters who she spoke of with such joy and pride. Dĳa loved spending time with her nephew Isiah Oliver whom she sang to daily. Dĳa enjoyed comedy, horror movies, cooking, music, singing, dancing, amusement parks, traveling and spending time with family and close friends. Her favorite places to visit were Jamaica and Ocean City MD.
