Life Tribute and Victory Service Columbus Ronnie Robinson, affectionally known as Ronnie, son of the late Columbus Robinson and the late Virginia Lilly Robinson-Garnett, began his life on October 12, 1945, and was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 29, 2022. The first of 12 children, Columbus was beloved by both sets of his grandparents, the late Marion and Theresa Robinson and the late Inez and Willie Keane. Columbus was baptized in the Apostolic faith at a young age, and no matter where he landed in life, he sought constant spiritual guidance from the Bible. Columbus was educated in Baltimore City Schools and attended City College. He played football, ran track, and began his lifelong love affair with electronics, stereo sound, and foreign cars. He loved jazz, taught himself to play saxophone, and was an avid fan of John Coltrane and came of age on the soul-stirring sounds of Earth Wind and Fire. He also had a fascination with science fiction films and loved his favorite series, “Fringe.” After the painful loss of his father, Columbus’ life took off like a rocket. He leaped from high school into the United States Navy in 1963, and married his high school sweetheart, Acquanetta Thomas in November of that same year. From that union two children were born. After six years of service to his country, Columbus attended the Mercy School of Nursing and served as class president. His first nursing assignment was with Johns Hopkins Hospital. Columbus worked at nearly every hospital in Baltimore and was devoted LPN, a committed caregiver serving thirty years in nursing. Columbus was known for popping in for a visit anytime and his distinctive walk could be seen from a mile away. He was a fantastic conversationalist known for his “gift of gab.” Columbus could talk about nearly anything and loved to read. His favorite text by far was the Holy Bible, specifically, Matthew 24, the entire chapter. Columbus talked often of “the coming of the Son of Man,” offering assurances that there were still things that needed to happen on the earth before that time, noting that “the end was not yet!” Columbus retired from nursing in 2000. He moved to West Virginia and eventually relocated to Hagerstown, Maryland where he lived happily for eleven years before returning to Baltimore in the spring of 2020. He was an immaculate housekeeper and had a flair for cooking “comfort food" and loved chocolate. Columbus walked nearly everywhere and loved to thrift shop. Columbus leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Nancy Ronnett Robinson-Goldring, Theresa Deneen Robinson and Marsha Davis, three sons, Columbus Ronnie Robinson, Wayne Abraham Johnson and Travis Datonio Robinson, 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven sisters, Russlin Smith, Romaine Virtel Robinson, Dwayne Robinson, Iris Robinson, Wendy Lane Baysmore, brother-in-law, Tony Baysmore, Maria Antonette Garnett-Moore, Casandra King, and one brother, Christopher Tytus Robinson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Maurice Antonio, Dwight Courtlyn Robinson and Aaron Robinson. Columbus enjoyed the love, devotion and care of Joan Johnson, and Lauretta E. Moseley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that span the globe knowing that the sun never sets on the Robinson clan.
