Clarence G. Woodley

CLARENCE GREEN WOODLEY was born on February 7, 1947 to Richard and Sadie Woodley in Southampton County, Virginia. At a very early age, Clarence gave his life to Christ. He joined Galilee Baptist Church in Branchville, Virginia where he was baptized. Clarence was a believer and enjoyed listening to the word of the Lord. Clarence was educated in Southampton County Public Schools. At an early age, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland and began his long career at P. Flannagan Construction Company. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years until retirement. Clarence was gifted with his hands; he could fix anything you needed done. In his later years, Clarence enjoyed watching movies and football, driving his ruby red truck while listening to rhythm and blues music, repairing lawnmowers and spending time with family and friends. He had a quiet demeanor. He was confident, gentle, helpful, and a kind person. He was a no-nonsense person, but fair. If you were his friend, it was for life. Clarence was united in holy matrimony to Lorraine Stephenson. Together, they had a blended family of nine children. They enjoyed spending quality time together in their Catonsville residence as well as in their hometown of Branchville, Virginia. Their union lasted for more than 45 years. Always giving and loving, Clarence will be sorely missed. Goodness and mercy have followed him all the days of his life - through joys and sorrows, successes and failures, sickness and health, we know that he will now dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Clarence was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Sadie Woodley; five brothers, one sister, and two sons, Clarence Woodley, Jr. (Sweet Pea) and Andrew Woodley. Clarence made his heavenly departure on Sunday, March 5, 2023, peacefully at home. He leaves to cherish his memory and to honor his legacy: his loving and devoted wife, Lorraine Woodley; his children, Angela Woodley, Kelvin Hussey (Tamika), Deone White, Audrea Woodley, Tracy Stephenson, Faminta White, Terrence Woodley, Shawnee Wright and Aaron Woodley, sister; Shirley Long, 28 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, James and Edna Malone; and a host of others.
