Charles Jackson

Charles Jackson was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 7, 1933 and transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2019. Charles Jackson, affectionately known as "Mickey", was born to the late John Jackson and Beatrice Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland. Mickey attended and graduated from Carver Vocational High School. After graduating, Mickey began his baseball career at Westport Stadium, prior to traveling with the semi-professional baseball team for several years. He later enlisted into the United States Army in 1953, where he served honorably and received the National Defense Service Medal. In 1971, Mickey met the love of his life, Mildred. This love lasted for 49 beautiful years. Mickey was a man with a peaceful and loving spirit, who lived life on and in his purpose. He was a scholar of the bible, and was frequently asked to preach and teach bible study at Central Baptist and Community of Grace Churches. Mickey also loved sports and was a huge fan of his beloved Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. A man of many talents, Mickey also loved to dance and won several dance competitions. When he wanted to relax, Mickey spent his days watching old western movies and spiritual television shows. He also loved his grandchildren, and often times, could be found teaching them messages from the bible and practicing boxing and baseball techniques. Mickey was a devoted companion, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Broadway, brother John "Jackie" Jackson (Iris) and son Michael Griffin. He leaves to cherish his memory: a life-long partner, Mildred Sparrow; his children, Dr. Vanessa L. Jackson, Craig D. Powell, Sr. (Teresa), Tony Sparrow, Antoinett C. Jackson and Lakaisha Jackson-Roberts; one son-in-law, Jaison Roberts; his sisters, Christina Rusk, Beverly English (Robert), and Barbara Walker; his brother, Wayne Jackson (Charlene); ten grandchildren, Ryan, Craig Jr. (Sharminique), Takera, Ashley, Jaelen, Justin, Jewel, Jaiden, Jordan, and Jaya; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony "Chunk", Kiyan, and Mason; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who he loved and cherished.
