Bernice A Robinson

Bernice A. Lee was born to loving parents, the late William Wiggins Lee and Mary Hardy Lee on April 19, 1929, in Littleton, North Carolina. There were seven daughters born of which Bernice is the third oldest. She grew up in a loving, Christian home. She was baptized and became a member of Lee's Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. She attended Halifax County public school, graduating from McIver High School in Littleton in 1948. Bernice traveled to New York via Baltimore where she attended Nursing School at Rockland State College in Middletown, New York. However, due to a serious auto accident she was unable to complete her studies. She met Carlton Robinson, the man of her dreams, and they were married on November 3, 1950. Carlton was in the United States Navy for 25 years. During their marriage they traveled to Florida, Virginia, California, Tennessee, and finally settled in Owings Mills, Maryland in the early 1970s. Bernice loved being a Navy wife. You would have thought Bernice was in the Navy instead of Carlton. She also was a member of Epworth United Chapel Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the church's Response Team. She attended until her health failed. Bernice retired in 1994 from the Fashion Bug retail chain and has been enjoying her retirement by spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She was an avid sports fan. She loves the New York Yankees, Tiger Woods, Venus and Serena Williams and has attended golf and tennis tournaments. Bernice also loves traveling and dining out. Through all their traveling and moving, they produced 5 children: Carlton Sidney Robinson, Jr. (deceased); Bernard Curtis Robinson of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Melvin Dennis Robinson (deceased); Sharon Lynne Robinson Huiswoud of Owings Mills, Maryland; and Dawn Marie Robinson of York, Pennsylvania. Bernice has 3 grandchildren: Blake Alexander Robinson, Brooke Robinson, and Garrison Van Bueren Huiswoud, one daughter-in-law Elizabeth Ann Robinson and one son-in-law Gary Steven Huiswoud. Sisters: Mable Palmer (Elvin), Etoile de Hawkins (Vernon), Hattie Ward; Maggie Conway (deceased); Saluda Williams (deceased); Elizabeth Moore (deceased); Susie McNair (deceased); Special niece, Doris Haley (Deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and other relatives and friends.
