Yvonne Denise Horsey

YVONNE DENISE HORSEY passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at the age of 70 years old, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Yvonne was the daughter of Cora Viola Couch and Ervin Edward Couch and the devoted wife, friend, and soulmate to Louis W. Horsey for twenty-five years. Yvonne was a proud product of the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Walbrook Senior High School and briefly attended Coppin State College before ultimately earning her Associate of Arts degree in Physical Therapy from Baltimore City Community College. Her dedication to education and personal growth was evident not only in her own academic journey but also in the way she mentored and encouraged others to pursue their educational goals. She retired as a physical therapist from St. Paul &Biddle Medical Associates in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2022, Yvonne and Louis (Lou) were not only soulmates, but they became kidney mates after being kidney mates with her niece, Karen Blake in 2010. Yvonne and Lou shared a very close and loving relationship and were rarely seen apart from each other. Lou said many times that it was. Yvonne who taught him the value and appreciation of family closeness. Together they formed a close relationship with families from both sides. Yvonne and Lou together have nurtured sons and grandchildren through this everchanging world. Yvonne was the central figure, along with other nurses like Nina Clark, caring for Lou’s mother at their home for 7 years until her passing. Family was at the heart of everything Yvonne did. She cherished time spent with loved ones and found joy in simple pleasures like watching Disney movies or listening to audiobooks. Her warmth, humor, and infectious laughter left lasting impressions on all who knew her. Yvonne lived a life of love, adventure, and resilience. She touched the hearts and lives of everyone she knew. Yvonne’s long time, close friend from childhood, Pam Dorsey conveyed, “Yvonne was always seen with a smile on her face.” Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, Cora Viola Couch and Ervin Edward Couch, and brother, James Mayfield. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband, Louis W. Horsey; three sons, Daniel Rollins, Nathaniel Rollins and Neuman Mason (Tenille Mason); six grandchildren, Carolyn Mason, Jaelen Rollins, Jakaria Rollins, Xavier Mason, Danielle Rollins and Daniel Rollins Jr.; two sisters, Linda James Junior and Nancy Davis; two nephews, Walter Davis Jr. and John Lindsey Junior; two nieces, Karen Blake and Teniasha Mayfield; and a host of cousins from the Smith and Couch families.
