Mya A. Boyd

MYA ASHLEY BOYD was born July 6, 1999, in Prince George’s County, MD. In 2006 Cassandra and Bernard were blessed to welcome twin girls Madison and Mya to their family at the precious age of 6. From the first meeting, Cassandra and Bernard knew that Madison and Mya would be the perfect addition to their family, and they instantly became the apple of their eyes. They immediately discovered this was the missing piece to their family. Mya was the embodiment of their chief goal to instill morals, values, education, and a strong Christian belief. Mya was a loving person. She leaves to mourn her parents, Bernard and Cassandra Boyd, her twin Madison Boyd, and brother Brandon Boyd. Enduring Spirit Mya’s spirit was bright and full of life. Even though she was quiet and reserved, she was always open to making new friends. Mya was committed to athletics – along with her sister, she was a key member of the soccer, basketball, and lacrosse teams while in high school at Chapelgate Christian Academy. Mya discovered herself through sports, academics, and other social activities. Mya was devoted to her friends and family and was known for her resiliency and relentless dedication to growth and learning. Mya pursued her passion to be part of the healthcare field and enrolled at Howard Community College before moving to Catonsville Community College, Radiology program. Mya’s academic path reflected not only her quest for knowledge, but her desire to make meaningful contributions in healthcare. Mya was employed by Annapath the Pathology Group for Woodholme Gastroenterology Associates in Pikesville, MD. Additionally, Mya was well-regarded as the Multimedia Manager for the Maryland Raptors Youth Basketball organization Mya’s dedication and passion for others was obvious from day one! Mya had an exuberant spirit, smile, and positive influence on others. She encouraged others, was an incredibly hard worker, and practiced generosity in all areas of her life. Mya embodied an outstanding combination of ambition and kindness, which left an indelible mark upon all of us. A Life Lived Mya’s passing at the mere age of 24 due to a tragic car accident reminds us of life’s fragility. Her life story encourages individuals to fulfill their potential and contribute positively to their communities; her memory serves as a beacon, encouraging us all to approach life with kindness, determination, and generosity. Mya demonstrated through her short life the significance of striving for growth – something that speaks volumes about Mya’s character as an individual. Mya Boyd’s passing has had a devastating impact on her family, friends, and the community. Survived by those she loved dearly; her absence is felt deeply by many. As we honor Mya’s memory, we remember a life well-lived. She left behind an inspirational legacy based not solely on what she achieved but also on how her story inspires people around her. Her life will forever stand as proof of how one’s life can have a significant effect and impact, an enduring example that will stand the test of time. Mya serves as a reminder that even in times of tragedy, human resilience and capacity for growth can guide us toward making meaningful contributions to improve the lives around us, encouraging current and future generations to live meaningful lives and make the most of their talents for society’s benefit. We will never forget her contributions to all of us. Smith of Foxworth, MS; Uncles Patrick McGowan (Renee) of Scranton, PA; Chris McGowan (Patricia) of Windsor Mill, MD; Kimble McGowan of Baltimore, MD; Greg Alford of Columbia, MS; Randy Smith of Columbia, MS; Ricky Smith of Foxworth, MS; Dana Boyd of Detroit, MI, and Shatonya James-Gilliam (Wendy) of Detroit, MI; and a host of cousins and friends.
