Kayla C. Williams

KAYLA CHARMAYNE WILLIAMS, beloved daughter of Charmayne Turner and Vahn Williams, was born on June 20, 1995, in Baltimore, Maryland. From the very beginning, Kayla’s vibrant spirit, warm smile, and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met. On July 22, 2025, she departed this life, leaving behind cherished memories, a deep well of love, and a legacy that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A Life of Connection Kayla was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools, where her outgoing personality and ability to make friends with ease made her a well-loved student. She built meaningful relationships both in school and throughout her community. Over the years, Kayla held various jobs, but she found special joy in working as a security guard, where she could meet new people, watch the world unfold around her, and connect with those who crossed her path. A Childhood Full of Love Family was at the center of Kayla’s world. She spent summers with her grandparents in Philadelphia, and treasured time with her great-grandmothers in Baltimore. She learned from their wisdom and enjoyed being in their presence. Summers also brought the excitement of various camps, while weekends meant African dance classes at Sankofa Dance Theater, watching her uncles rehearse in the studio, or sharing special moments with her father and grandmother. Kayla’s bonus parents, Andre and Katrina were a part of the village that loved and supported her. A Loving Sister and Mother Kayla also shared countless adventures with her mother. They traveled to Jamaica, Disney World, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and San Diego, making memories that she held close to her heart. Kayla first welcomed a sister through marriage, Samari, and then proudly became a big sister to Omar and Vahn in 2007, and again in 2012 when her youngest brother, Ayinde, was born. Her greatest joy, however, was being a mother. Kaden, Kori, and Khamari, were the light of Kayla’s life and her proudest accomplishment. She delighted in the simple joys of motherhood: playing board games (Uno was always a family favorite), taking trips to Dave & Buster’s, Sky Zone, amusement parks, and the movies, or cooking their favorite meals. Above all, she poured every ounce of her love and energy into ensuring her children were happy, cared for, and surrounded by the same sense of community that nurtured her. Her Joyful Spirit Kayla found beauty in life’s simple pleasures, listening to music, taking drives around the city, or curling up with a good movie. She had a unique sense of style and took pride in looking her best, perfecting her makeup, lashes, and ensuring her edges were always laid. Her radiance came not only from her outer beauty but also from the warmth and light she carried within. A Legacy of Love Kayla was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Wanda Little, and her dear friend, Sam Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, Kaden, Kori, and Khamari; her parents: Charmayne and Andre Turner and Vahn and Katrina Williams; one sister, Samari Brown; three brothers, Omar Williams, Vahn J. Williams and Ayinde Turner; her grandparents: Dr. Lawrence and Chimurenga Little and Osiris and Sylvia Marsh; one aunt: Christina Copes (Tavon); five uncles: Nathan, Jason, Solomon, Samuel and Jeremy Marsh, and Chaz Little; five great-aunts: Donna Dean, Shawan Jackson (Laurence), Lorna Bryan (Ronald), Kentilia Patterson, Cheronetta Patterson; two greatuncles Charles Patterson & Jacob Patterson; her Godmother, Gabrielle Smith and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, god sisters and extended family members, and friends who loved her deeply. Her spirit lives on through her children, her family, and the many lives she touched along her journey.
