Jimmie Lee Hill, Jr.

JIMMIE LEE HILL JR., also known as “Jimbo”, was born on August 16, 1948, in Southern Pines, North Carolina to the late Helen Elizabeth Medlan and Jimmie Lee Hill Sr. He was the eldest of three children. After battling a long journey of health issues his pain and suffering ended on January 31, 2024. Jimmie was educated in the Moore County school system in his early school days in North Carolina. He later moved to Baltimore where he received his education and graduated from Douglass High School. He attended Morgan State University majoring in accounting. His work history started at the JJ Brill’s grocery store on Laurens and Pennsylvania Ave. In 1969 he began his career at Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) in Baltimore City as a Software Analyst supervisor. He retired from BGE as a Procurement Specialist supervisor at the nuclear plant located in Calvert Cliffs, Maryland. Jimmie loved God and was raised in a religious household with his Grandma Angie, sisters, Joan “Honey” and Gloria “Loveheart” and uncles, Bee and Perry. He enjoyed going to Sunday school and singing hymns and bible verses. Once he relocated to St. Mary’s County with his special friend, Veronica Wiggins, he joined St. Peter’s Claver Catholic Church. He became the church treasurer and was a member of the men’s choir. He loved to perform in church concerts, showing off his deep baritone voice. He also served as a member of the NAACP and was the treasurer of his branch. He enjoyed participating in community events and programs with a goal to invest in youths and the community. He was married to Gale Hill and from their union came Sabrina and Marlana “Nicci”. He was a family man and cherished spending time with his daughters. In the early 70’s photography became his biggest passion. He was known as the “Picture Man” at all the cabarets in Baltimore. He also loved bowling and joined a bowling league at the Security Boulevard bowling alley. For a short period, he played the guitar and would strike a tune or two here and there. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, singing and dancing to good music, eating good food and playing a mean hand of spades, pinocle or pity pat. Jimmie was such a humble, kind-hearted person who touched the lives of many. He was very intelligent and had many talents. His goal in life was to help people enhance their life to pave the way to leave a legacy for the younger generation. If he called you his friend you had a friend to the end. He had always been a man of few words, but when he did speak you better believe it was for a purpose. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen E. Medlan, father, Jimmie L. Hill Sr, sister, Joan Winslow, uncles, Vernon “Bee” Hill and Perry Ray (Betty), grandmother, Carrie Angie Hill-Ray, best friends, Nelson Hardy (Brenda) and Carlos Dansby, special friend, Veronica “Ronnie” Wiggins and her son, Aaron Wiggins. He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Sabrina Parsons and Marlana Hill (Edward); a sister, Gloria Townes; ex-wife Gale Hill; two grandsons, Gregory Parsons Jr. (Shamaria) and Gary Parsons Sr.; two granddaughters, Sharita Parsons and Miya Hill; eight great-grandchildren, Mia and Miyelle Parsons, Kwantae Wright and Knowledge McDowell, Gabrielle and Gary Parsons Jr., and Kaylen and Jayden Hall; his aunt, Betty Ray; a special friend, who he recognized as a daughter, Virginia Wiggins and her daughter, Ashley Wiggins; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
