Betty Ann Sapp

Betty Ann Chance Sapp (affectionately known as Annie) was born January 9, 1944, to the union of the late Lillie Mae and Capus Chance, Sr., in Perkins, Georgia. Betty was educated in the Jenkins County school system in Georgia. She finished her education at the Baltimore City Community College. At an early age Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the Burgemen Grove Baptist Church in Perkins, Georgia. November 12, 1960, Betty was united inmarriage to the love of her life, the late David Lee Sapp. From this union they were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Natalie, Sonia, and Danita. She had a beautiful way of touching hearts and leaving everyone she encountered better than before. Betty’s transition is not the end, but a continuation of her everlasting legacy. She will live on in the love she gave, the memories she created, and the joy she shared. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. In her early years, Betty dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her daughters as a stay-at-home mother, instilling in them the same love, values, and strength that she carried within herself. Later, she pursued her education at Community College of Baltimore County, where she proudly earned her certification as a Certified Medical Assistant. She went on to serve in the healthcare field for over 20 years, touching countless lives with her compassion and skill. After retiring, Betty continued to pour into others—becoming, as the family lovingly jokes, “the only paid volunteer we know!” She joyfully served her community at health fairs, churches, and local events, faithfully checking blood pressure and sharing her knowledge of health education. Service was not just what she did—it was who she was. Betty transitioned from this life to gain her heavenly wings on August 28, 2025. Betty was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She truly delighted in spending time with her family and friends, filling every moment with warmth and love. She walked in God’s grace—Blessed and Highly Favored—and was deeply cherished, celebrated, and adored by her husband, children, and grandchildren. Betty was proceeded in death by her loving husband David Lee Sapp; sisters, Lillian Moore and Beatrice Chance; and brothers Franklin Chance, Clarence Chance, Elliott Chance (Bo), James Chance (Danky), Capus Chance, Jr. (Chick), and Perry Chance. Betty leaves to Cherish her memory her loving daughters, Natalie (Clarence) Fauntleroy, Sonia Sapp-Jones, and Danita Sapp (Nita) all in Baltimore, Maryland; six grandchildren, Rajae Dishmon of Ft Lauderdale Florida, Elijah Jones, Jahleel Fauntleroy, Isaiah Jones of Baltimore, Maryland, David McFadden of San Diego Ca. only granddaughter Ninah Fauntleroy of Baltimore, Maryland; and sister Lucy Johnson (Sam) of Hephzibah, Georgia.
