Johnathan Derick Ambrose

Johnathan Derick Ambrose was born on November 16, 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland. Our beloved Johnathan transitioned to be in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, March 6, 2020. Johnathan is the son of John Lewis Ambrose (deceased) and Cattie Ambrose. He was the “Baby Boy”— 5th in line of 6 children to John and Cattie Ambrose. Johnathan attended Baltimore City College. He worked in the Construction Industry and held positions at Helping Hands (a contractor for the Department of Transportation), Miller Corporation and Bear Construction. Most recently, he was Maintenance Director for ComForcare Home Care Services. He was an excellent painter and carpenter; he often utilized these trades to benefit family and friends. He also enjoyed planting flowers for his Mom and his Big Sis, Jenette. In his early years, Johnathan played the trumpet and the saxophone. He exceeded well in math while in school. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, and he looked forward to family events. Johnathan liked cooking and grilling. His favorite sports included basketball and football. He was an encourager to his sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. He communicated weekly with the family. He loved his nieces and nephews as his own children. He was heartbroken when his nephew, Sion Matthews, passed away a couple of years ago. Johnathan was baptized at Mt. Calvary Star Baptist Church. He was a choir member and an usher. He later joined New Psalmist Baptist Church. Johnathan was humble, quiet, kind, and very intelligent. He had a great stature about him; he was about 6’2” and had such grace in his walk. Before Johnathan got his car, his legs carried him everywhere— even long distances between Baltimore City and Harford County. He enjoyed candy, especially Twizzlers, and watching TV Mystery shows. Johnathan leaves to mourn his mother, Cattie Ambrose; sisters, Jenette Young (Charles), Dr. Sherri Holt (Earl Jr.) and Carissa Matthews (Aaron); brothers, Juan Ambrose (Rosalind) and Byron Ambrose; nieces & nephews, Chantay, Aliyah and Byron Jr. Ambrose, Earl III and Keith Holt; Charles Young II; Arianna & Victoria Matthews, Patrice Tucker; great nieces and nephews, great aunts and uncles, ousins and friend
