Dorothy Livers

DOROTHY MACKALL LIVERS was born July 25, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the oldest of five children to Viola and William. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Dorothy was a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School. Dorothy was affectionately called “Ms. Dot, Dottie, Ms. D. and Mother.” In 1956 Dorothy married the late Stephen Toy Livers Sr. Dorothy became a stay-at-home mom. She loved a very neat home. Her children were always clean, hair combed and pressed. In her family, she had five girls. Dottie could iron clothes better than any dry cleaner. Her children could take off their clothes, hang them up and the next day they would still be pressed. Dot was the mother of eight children. Her children knew that when they came home from school, dinner was on the table. Next it was time for homework to start. Dorothy loved her children and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also helped to raise some in her home. Dorothy knew the Lord because at an early age she became a member of the Berlin Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church. Later Dorothy became a member of Fountain Baptist Church. She was baptized by Rev. Herman A. Ford. She decided to become a member of the “Willing Workers” that later became the Missionary Ministry. She attended church for as long as her health would allow her. She would send her tithes and offerings by her daughter to church. She would always ask about people from church. Dorothy loved her church family. Dorothy would receive cards, gift cards, flowers and calls from her church family and friends. Dorothy went peacefully in her sleep on August 9, 2024. She will truly be missed by her family, church family and friends. Dorothy was a people person. She loved to hold a conversation with anyone. She would often go down to Mondawmin Mall with her neighbor, Joann Christopher in the mornings. She would sit and talk to the people that sat with her. Then her daughter would pick her up to go home. The people called her Ms. Mondawmin. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Deborah Gordon, Wanda Mackall, Karen Fisher; and one son, Stephen Toy Livers Jr. (Lisa Livers); (Robin, Patricia, Barry and Michael preceded her in death); brother, James Mackall (Deborah Mackall), and brothers, Robert and Samuel Mackall; (sister Jean Lloyd preceded her in death); one brother in-law, Welton Lloyd; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two cousins. Leah Joy Dammon and Annie Simm; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
